A Weekly Inspirational Thought from Ken Korkow

Two Wolves

I was visiting with a Christian business owner that was in a lot of trouble.  He had been an exemplary Christian leader in the past but was now dealing with the consequences of bad choices.  When I asked how this all happened - given his past faithfulness and disciplines - he gave a classic response: "What I was doing was working so well - that I stopped doing it."

That reminds me of an old story:

wolvesOne evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, "My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

"One is Evil -  It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other is Good -  It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

This morning I saw what it takes to feed the 'good wolf':   "Then He (Jesus) said to the crowd, "If any of you wants to be My follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow Me.  If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for My sake, you will save it.  And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but are yourself lost or destroyed?  If anyone is ashamed of Me and My message, the Son of Man will be ashamed of that person when He returns in His glory and in the glory of the Father and the holy angels."  Luke 9:23-26

Which 'wolf' are you feeding?
