A Weekly Inspirational Thought from Ken Korkow

What She Wants / What He Wants

You've probably heard it before, but I need to say it again. For you. And for me. Because being married isn't easy.

The leading causes* of divorce are:

  • Lack of communication
  • Sex
  • Money problems
  • Difference in values and priorities
  • Problems with in-laws
  • Religious beliefs and convictions

After 34 years of being married, Liz will tell you her greatest desires* are that I would be a godly man that provides:

  • Affection/romance
  • Communication
  • Openness/honesty
  • Financial Security
  • Family commitment

And (this won't surprise you) my greatest desires* are that she would be a godly woman providing:

  • Sex
  • Recreational companion
  • Attractive spouse
  • Domestic support
  • Admiration and respect

*From "A Survey On The Desires Of Men And Women," by Gary Smalley

When we understand the potential pitfalls and are keyed-in to the needs of our spouse - marriage/life can still be difficult. But the more I set my heart on obeying the Lord and honoring my bride - am amazed at how much joy we have in the journey.

"Let your manhood be a blessing; rejoice in the wife of your youth. Let her charms and tender embrace satisfy you. Let her love alone fill you with delight." Proverbs 5:18-19
